Fia is 14.5 lbs and nowhere close to heavy in the sling. I feel like I can wear her through toddler-hood. I made my RS because the name brand ones are ridiculously spendy and making them is ridiculously easy (like, well under an hour). If you're crafty I could send you some info on how-to. Or if you can't find another option you like I'd be happy to make you one (seriously, it takes me less than a nap to do). I used it maybe a handful of times and then I stopped because my LO liked the k'tan better. But the ring slings are comfortable. My LO used it until she was 4 months. My LO was 7 lbs when she was born and doubled quickly.
