I would say it's medium thickness. The outer layer is waterproof, has a detachable hood. We got it pretty late in the season so didn't wear it much. It's finally time for new duds. Rain coats, jackets, heavier coats, anything you have to keep a munchkin warm. Any other fall items - hoodies, sweaters, boots, hats, mittens, etc - would be considered also :) </p>
